Milky Way is larger than originally thought!

Now appears that its larger and bulkier than Andromeda which was always thought to be our larger neighbour!

I would love to see what their view of our galaxy is, bet its an amazing sight!

It probably looks like a grey smudge - like most other DSO's.

yep I've heard about this at work when I was listining to radio 2.

One report I heard made me chuckle when it said something along the lines of (to paraphrase) "due to the higher mass, we are now thought to be moving towards Andromeda more quickly than previously thought and so will collide sooner". I have visions of scenes of mass hysteria with people thinking it's going to happen before the end of the January sales!
