Sun 200429 PST with new ITF-filter

Tried out the PST today with the new ITF filter installed. Its an improvment I think compared to the old ITF.

This is of great interest to me as I have a new ITF on it's way from the States as I write.

My old one was apparently passed it's best....

and  'may' (??)   be responsible for some strange aberrations.

Do you have any pictures taken with your 'old' ITF  to make a comparison ??

This is with the old ITF:

Not a huge improvment but the seeing today was very bad so under the same conditions the difference will be bigger. My old ITF was very rusty.

Yes, I think your surface details are now sharper.  With better see-ing and some pronounced activity on the surface it should start to make a big difference.  It is so difficult to get good focus and tuning with a featureless Sun.

I think my  ITF issues are a bit more severe, so fingers crossed that the replacement brings good views again.
