Combine data from two telescopes/cameras

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I know APP is very good a combining data from different sources but is it possible to do this in pixinsight. I prefer to use DSS for stacking but guess PI could not combine two stacked images together?

I would be using a 130pds with my asi1600 and a ed80 with a atik 314l.

I have had a look around but cannot seem to find a answer either way.

Cheers,

From reading other peoples' posts I thought PI could combine different size images, but I don't have it so I may have completely the wrong impression.

The only time I've done it so far I resized my smaller RGB subs to match the size of my luminance subs and then stacked them as normal in DSS.

You can do it in PI by using Dynamic Alignment to align one image to another & then either Pixel Math to combine into a new image, or HDRComposition. (HDRComposition is more for combining different exposures)

To combine images in Pixel Math you'd just need an expression like:-

(0.6*first_image)+(0.4*sec_image)

To blend the images with 60% of the first and 40% of the second. Remember to select Create New Image though... as the default is to overwrite.
