Very interesting.  I really enjoyed watching both videos (though  I had to view the second directly on Youtube, it kept feezing my PC via SGL!). Its incredible to hear someone like  W W Morgan describing how he discovered we live in a spiral arm of a spiral galaxy. The leap forward in knowledge in Astronomy over the past few decades is just incredible!

That scope looks breathtakingly steampunk in that first video. 😍  You can never have too many knobs, pulleys, chains, tubes, gears, and brass on a vintage scope.

The size of that scope is just mind-blowing. I love the old grandfather-type pendulum clock mounted on the pier. The 37.5ton height-adjustable floor to reach the EP is another nice touch...

Very interesting John. I have just finished a biography of Gerard Kuiper and he did much of his best work with this very telescope.
