OSC to replace 1100D

Recommended Posts

Hi looking for recommendations to replace my unmodded canon 1100d with a OSC. Looking to spend around £1000k, can I expect significant improvement over the canon for DSOs? I use a skywatcher 200p, my skies are fairly dark but having some LP over to the north east.

Grateful for advice and any experience of users of OSC after moving from a DSLR.

Thanks guys

Stuart

Have you looked at ZWO OSC Cameras? I went from a Canon Modded 1100D after 5 years to a ASI294MC Pro.

It's a very sensitive camera and a lot cleaner in noise then the 1100D with set point cooling.

Thank ill take a look. I dont know where to start as this is a new area for me. Would you say your images have improved significantly to justify the extra price?)

Would i need an adapter for a skywatcher 200p?

The ZWO ASI071 and QHY168C use the same APS-C sensor (same size as your Canon) and get good reviews. I have the QHY and love it. They're above your budget at about £1450, but you can get them used for about £900.

I replaced my Canon 1100D with the QHY168C. A dramatic improvement in noise compared to the DSLR. I think any remaining problems are probably me 😉
