Boot Polish and threads....??

Hello everybody,

I am sure that I read somewhere on this marvellous forum about the use of 'shoe-polish' on tricky threads that can be prone to 'cold-welding'.

I am trying to offset frustration and futureproof my  delicate optical gear by not having to force issues...... it never can turn out well however much stress relief it gives......

Have I dreamt up this top piece of DIY wisdom or is it an accepted way to guard against seizures ??

Is there any commercial products that do the same ??

I have tried a small smear on the threads and it does work.

Or just get some proper anti-seize compound. There are a few different types for specific metals but a general purpose one will do.

Thanks everybody.    I might have some Copper-ease lying around.   Subliminally thought it was for copper !! (Doh!!).

I think I will avoid any aerosol based applicators...... I can see some optical surfaces getting a coating  !! (Double-doh!!)

Boot/shoe polish certainly works - used it myself,

Good plan  avoid aerosol stuff.
