Images - which way round?

Plenty of Mercury Transit images in the Solar section, some of which have Mercury transiting from right to left.

It irritates me a little as it's easy to "correct", but is it "wrong" ?

Maybe, depends on your point of view literally, I suppose it's nice to have them the right way round from where they're taken.

Usually try to post my solar images the right way round but not always at the right angle.

Never thought of that, but indeed - depends on where you look from - southern or northern hemisphere

Left to right would be the correct orientation for visual. I watched a small part of the transit on a livestream on facebook and the telescope operator set the equipment up for transiting left to right, forgetting that the telescope flipped the image. Eventually they realised their error and missed the start of the transit completely.

Similar occurrence when the BBC camera was framing the wrong side of the sun at the start of an eclipse of the sun, several minutes paased with the commentator repeating "it will be anytime now"..............

In space there is no up or down, it's all relative to the orientation of the observer.
