Jupiter and Saturn best I could do

Managed to capture Jupiter and Saturn tonight with my 12inch f4 newtonion, just primary imaging, no barlow as planets to low from here in the UK. I captured with zwo asi 224. I know they're not great but probably the last I'll do this season.

They must be very low in the UK as they are not too clever here and I am 11 degrees better off than even the south coast. all considered they are good shots.

They are respectable images Nigella. When they are much higher for you in the UK you should do very well.

Not too bad considering the altitude and poor seeing at the moment from the UK. As Aussie Dvae says, in a couple of years they will be higher and much easier targets.

Indeed.  Good efforts.  I reckon it would be worth pulling the originals for those (that is, the processed image before it was in JPG format) into Registax and asking it to align the colour planes.  You might get a bit more detail by doing so.

Stu (I think) posted a graph in another planetary imaging thread showing the height above the horizon for Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.  From memory Mars looks pretty good for next year with Jupiter and Saturn getting better the year after.

I meant to add -- I prefer to avoid using JPG images where possible because the compression is lossy.  PNG may be a better choice to preserve detail in the image.

Thanks for the comments, yeah, looking forward to next year to image Mars. Least I got some practice in, lol.
