carastro
I'll keep a look out for you Roger. Personally I like the Atik's especially my Atik460EX. I would suggest go for the Sony chips they are much less noisy. Are you thinking of buying new or used? ApophisAstros
new , with funds i discussed with you, is 2" filters and EFW the one to go for, i see some cameras come all in one , good idea? Roger
carastro
As far as I know the built in ones often only have 5 positions. I could be wrong. Am sending you an E mail. Carole
red dwalf
i use a starlight express filter wheel with my Atik 460, one reason being that i like the fact that it only needs one usb cable to operate instead of atik that need two, one power and one usb for transfer, plus easy to change filter wheels from 7 x 1.25" to 2" if you require them in the future, the 1.25" filters are ok with the atik 460
MattJenko
If you want to stick with CCD as opposed to a CMOS camera, I would be tempted to go with a larger FOV and use a 8300 chip (Atik 383 or Moravian equivalent) as there are some very large nebula objects out there.... For galaxies, you are not losing significant resolution in terms of arc/pixel either. +1 for SX filter wheels.
swag72
The Kodak 8300 is a very god sensor in my experience. I run two of them, a Moravian G2-8300 and a QSI 683. Both have built in filter wheels which I love (but I am using 1.25" filters - Not sure how it works space wise for 2") If I had to call one out as better, I'd go for the QSI. It has a better feel with regards to build quality and also it holds its temperature better. That's not to say the Moravian is bad...... it goes between +/- 0.1 degree whereas the QSI stays bang on temperature all night. I also like the built in OAG that the QSI has.
