I am currently using the old version of the Asi 120mm usb2

How much better is the ASI 174 regarding image quality?

Is the image quality better on the newer ASI 120 usb 3?

I havnt a clue mate, but the main factor with sol is seeing so on a day of cracking seeing the cam with the best Res will be best but as you know you can find more hens teeth than good days of seeing. charl.

I have both the ASI 120MM USB2 and the 174MM-Cool.

At first glance, and confirmed by "Astronomy Tools" the 120MM is a smaller sensor and the Sun disc overflows the view -

in the 174 the Sun is surrounded by probably 50% sky, it looks that small!

The first would need at least 2 takes for a full disc.
