There are two versions of the lens, one is traditional the other gets mounted on a pistol shaped grip and has a dial for the focuser on the underside.

Ah, OK. It is 'piston' and 'pistol' which confuses us. No idea! Still non the wiser but here are two more shots which may help you identify. I'll swap for -what I think is- the other version in time for the weekend.

The focuser gives it away and your one has it. Very nice.

Pistol. Piston was a type change I missed.

Very nice image! I was in Andalusia last week with my kit and the northerly wind was horrendous - couldn't do anything!

Oddly though we went skiing one day and top of Sierra Nevada hardly had a puff of wind. Maybe I should have taken my kit up there!

Pistol grip hand device that holds that lens and that flavour has a dial for controlling focus located near the lens front, the pentax camera fitted the other end of the pistol style grip. The other version of that lens has normally expected focus control on the lens barrel. I did a bit of Google ferreting on the lens.

Hi. This is the other version. Although it's 300mm, I don't think it's by the same manufacturer; heavier, fatter and has 'made in ddr' as opposed to ussr.
