NGC6888 - Crescent Nebula...

Well, my first clear night since I got back from China, so I went for NGC6888.

The image is 10 x 300 second Clear, 10 x 300 second Ha (probably should've been longer), 10 x 150 second RGB. Then DDP in Maxim, stacked and aligned before shifting into PS and blending...

Hope you like it!

Potentially that is better but as Billy says just needs the colour working a bit. Using Ha as luminence and as additional red data is a tricky bit of processing. Substituting ha as the red channel doesn't work well because outside the nebula the Ha is weak which results in cyan coloured stars.

Rob Gendler describes a good way to do an HaHaRGB image here http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/HARGB.html. Your image has some background colour bias problems - too green. This is sorted by using individual channels in levels and carefully setting the black points seperately. Here is an LRGB primer which explains about this in more detail http://astropedia.stargazerslounge.com/index.php?title=LRGB_imaging_primer

It is a great capture Richie and will be stunning with a little tweaking
