Astrodon Disapointment

Recommended Posts

Well I just got my Astrodons today, they are new post sale to farpoint with the filter data laser etched onto the rim of the 1.25 inch threaded filter holder, they arrived sealed and...covered in dust. Ill be trying to clean them up tonight.

Read this thread for more information.

Best guess the filter holder is rubbing against the inside of the plastic case liberating fine plastic particles that then fall onto the surface of the filter during transit.

Ill try and blow it all off when I get in from work tonight. I find it unacceptable considering the cost. Its the type of small particles that have the potential to scratch.

All the Astrodon filters I've bought have been dusty, considering that Badder filters come in those nice cases the Astrodon ones are pretty poor, lined in blue foam that disintegrates all over the filters.

Yes Baader 1/4 the cost but better packaging.

Well it all came off with a rocket blower and a gentle dab with a lint free wipe. But really? Should a new 330pound filter come with enough debris on it to make your flat look like Swiss cheese?

In this area at least Astrodon need to take a look at Baader, all of my Baader filters have been immaculate.

I can echoe your dissatisfaction as when i received my ha filter it was dusty and with what appeared to be a large scratch. I was about to send it back when i decided to give it a rub and with considerable effort it cleaned up and it turned out what i thought to be the scratch was something caked on. Can't complain about how it performs which at the end of the day is what matters most to me.
