Little Isadore
Being abeginner, and after reading some postings here,i was getting confused as to how this double star (Albireo) was jumping from one constellation to another. i could not believe two stars (well four) were named the same, but after a little bit of googeling irealizedthey are they are. ken
blinky
I dunno what you mean Ken? Albireo is a double star in the constellation.....Erm I dunno. But anyway as far as I know it wont move from one to the next. All I know is it looks great through the scope!
Inthedark
Could it be there's an Albireo in Cygnus and in the Northern Cross... which are 2 names for the same constellation...?
argonaut
Albireo is Beta Cygnus. I like this double with a golden Yellow Primary and a Bluish secondary. Those are the colours I see. Some observers see the secondary a little different.Argonaut.
algol
agreed argo, golden yellow with what i call ice blue secondary.and as far as i know albireo is always found in cygnus, although as stated it is sometimes called the northern cross, i have even heard it called the swan

argonaut
A very rainy Rochdale I see Eta Cassiopeia as similar to Albireo, but the colours are much more subtle.Argonaut.

argonaut
Well, the Astronomy Centre is not far from me at Todmorden. I don't go because I don't want to catch 'aperture fever'A bit of a drag from Wigan. Probably worth it for a definite clear night though.Argonaut. Little Isadore
Have a look at Turn Left at Orion page 67. Ok it's called "winter Albireo" But not being expirenced i thought it was THE Albireo, but in the winter.
Tiny
Albireo - the beautiful is the head of the swan. At one time it was used as a test of eyes for colours but as no person can describe a colour to someone else and for all we know we all see colours different people agreed to disagree on exactly what colours the two stars arewhen seem with eye via scope. It does look nice though!
asteria
Was it gamma Andromedae? This is a beautiful pair that looks very similar to Albireo. This combo is gold and blue and can look like Albireo.Ed
Little Isadore
No. I have since seen that one (i was searching for the andromeda galaxy at the time), it is very much like Albireo. I was just me not reading Turn Left At Orion through properly. The first mention of Alberio in that book(on page 67) is the "Winter Albireo" in Canis major. The one you mentioned is,according to Wikipedia, sometime called "The Little Albireo" . It can be confusing forbeginners!ken
