It can be useful though not necessary, to orient the guide camera with the equatorial grid so that RA is parallel to the guide camera image edge. Just move the mount back and forth in RA using the EQMOD direction arrows (use speed 2 or 3) and looking at the PHD2 output rotate the guide camera until the stars move parallel to the image edge. Then do a recalibration.
