heres 10 180s ISO 800 subs of the ring nebula. stacked in dss but as you can see, its not quite right, ring looks ok but stars are all over the place, is this a stacking or guiding issue?

Could be movement in some of the subs - are the stars round in all of the subs?

You didnt leave the bahnitov mask on while exposing, did you?

Don't have a mask so can't be that. It's odd that the ring looks unaffected.

I can ghost images of the ring. I’d say this is s tracking error - what do the subs look like?

I agree with the other guys in that it is highly likely the tracking is out on some of your subs. You need to exclude the ones where the stars are trailing.

It also looks like the stars on the left are out of focus. This could be due to a non-orthogonality somewhere in your imaging train. Make sure that there is no slop between your camera and the scope for a start to fixing this.
