T2 to M48 adapter which houses a 1.25@ filter?

Ok  so I'm answering myself here lol

I need something like this - T2 to T2 with integrated filter holder -  and then add the adapter above that Dave linked as it adds only 3.5mm!

Total space taken up =13.5mm, leaving 23.5mm to make up to get correct spacing ( I have ordered the 17-29 M48 variable spacer kit to make up this difference).

I think you can achieve it by combining different components.

What sort of thread do you need - male/female wise?

Let's take for example that you have female T2 thread (camera has T2 female) and you need female M48 on the other end (focuser/OAG whatever has M48 male).

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p7514_Baader-continuous-male-T2-thread-with-1-25--Filterthread.html

+

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p10395_TS-Optics-Adaptor-from-M48x0-75-to-T2---high-profile.html

So you take male T2 with filter thread - and thread it into camera (and place filter inside) - then thread continuous female T2 and thread it onto that, and last M48/T2 one.

Many thanks @Davey-T and @vlaiv

Here is what I am trying to connect together, to let me try out some small filters. Atik to variable spacers

Combination I mentioned above should work for that.

If you want to use it as means of using filters, than I would suggest something else:

Depending on your back focus requirements, either filter wheel, or filter drawer would be a good choice.

Here is something that is a bit cheaper than filter wheel and has relatively small back focus requirement:

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p10474_TS-Optics-T2-Filter-drawer-with-filter-slide-in-module---improved-design.html

So you would combine one of those with short T2 to M48 adapter.

Above one comes with 2" filter drawer but you can purchase 1.25" drawers separately.

This is how I use filters at the moment - you can exchange them with ease while everything is attached to scope (I have x2 1.25" drawer and one 2" drawer). I have previous version:

https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p2159_TS-Optics-Filter-Quick-Changer-for-2--filters---T2-mount---length-15-mm.html

which is really short in optical path - but you may need spacers for this one. Threads are around 3mm (or even a bit less) and there is a chance that accessory you screw in T2 thread sticks a bit inside where filter drawer goes if it is longer than 3mm. I screw it directly on short T2 thread of ASI1600 but need 1mm spacer so my drawers go in and out freely. Also take care that thread in drawers is short as well. I've found that some filter cells - ones that have longer 1.25" thread, again stick on the other side, preventing smooth insertion of drawer. Baader filters fit nicely, and for others I applied very thin 28mm zeger ring (can be found very cheaply in hardware stores - just look for one that goes in tube rather than on shaft - outer one).

I also started with combination that you plan to use, but I only used it for OSC camera and LP filter - that one does not need changing mid session. Above solution with filter drawer or with filter wheel (I did not want to go with filter wheel due to bulk and weight of it) is simply better if you want to shoot multiple filters in a single night (like RGB or doing two NB filters).

I plan to buy an ATIK EFW in the future, but I just wanted to try out a few 1.25" filters I already have!   Thanks for your help and confirmation :D

Adam, I think you risk some vignetting with 1.25" on the 383, thats a good shout from Vlaiv for the filter draw and would get you sorted until you put some dosh together for a FW.

I am always bad at rushing things and end up spending twice.

You will still need T2/M48 adapter with that. Pay attention that filter is screwed other way around with this one - if you have female thread on camera.

Thanks again! Yes I’ll order the adapter that Dave linked above too.  This will bring me to 13.5mm spacing which is so 100%
