hi i have downloaded apt software and am just trying to play around with things 1st but i cant connect my mount/scope or guide camera to the programme im using usb serial port connection from the handset to the pc or do i need a different cable?

Hi, I use a usb serial connection on my hand controller to pc and Ascom drivers to run APT and my celestron AVX.

What mount and camera are you trying to connect?

The guide camera is connected to your guiding software (typically PHD2 https://openphdguiding.org/ ) .  The guiding software then connects to APT, although this is only needed if you are going to be dithering. https://ideiki.com/astro/usersguide/dithering_and_guiding.htm
