Triple-Triples......

Recommended Posts

I scraped coordinates from Wikipedia's triple and multiple star system category pages and coded a quick search to pair up any star systems at close proximity..., perhaps not the ideal data set though.

Comparing this list with CDSA, it's difficult to find a grouping with three visible triplets close together, but I suppose if there is one, it would be in an area with a lot of stars like Taurus or Cygnus....

I tried the following data set last night - http://www.ctio.noao.edu/~atokovin/stars/

Taking only the A components for each star system, here are WDS ids and V-band magnitude for a few <1degree candidates. Unfortunately, I have no idea how many of them are "visual" whether due to mag or separation, and some will have >3 components, And even then some are not visible from here.

Cygnus might be your best bet, but the dataset is a bit skewed - perhaps there's been a more detailed survey around Cygnus?
