First Orion Nebula

Hi,

I am just a novice in AP, but it looks like it might have been "over processed" a little, at least to my eye - then again it is down to taste i guess.

There is a ton of detail though, so suspect the data is good.

I can see you have pixinsight - I can suggest this detailed guide where David Ault explains how he has processed M42 in PI, don't know if you are already familier with it?

Thank you for sharing, it is great to see other peoples images when it is cloudy here!

First hyperstar image I have seen on here, a real treat, it's a very interresting imaging system for sure, how do you like it?

I like the image and it brings out some factors that I don't really see in other pictures. It looks like a painting! A downside of this interesting effect however, is the decreased realism. To me, it looks like the edges are too sharp. Just my opinion, though. Overall, I like it; it gives an interesting, "artsy" perspective!

I do think I over processed it but when I tried to process it again I couldn't keep the center from being blown out.

Maybe I need some shorter exposures.

It is never cloudy in Southern California! Not even in the winter.

I really like the hyperstar it is so fast that 13 magnitude galaxies show up in 30second exposures.

I'll have another go at processing.

Thanks for the advice.

Try this http://www.astropix.com/html/j_digit/laymask.html

I'd advise duplicating your image just before your core is blown out and use that instead of waiting for night to take some short subs

Did you try HDRMultiscale transformation in PI? it is described in the tutorial I linked as well.

I'm super envious of the skies!! ?
