Thanks again everyone for the warm welcomes! I have gone and bought my first scope from a member on here. Many thanks perkil8r

I had my first observing session last night in the back garden with my new Skywatcher 200p. Even under street lighting I was pleasantly surprised at what I could see. Was concentrating on Orion though it will take some getting used to the inverted image! Was hoping to try out a Baader eyepiece tonight but of course it's been [removed word] down again. Looking forward to some Lunar viewing next week though.

We were all beginner once... being put off?? you either love it or not, even in a light polluted area there are plenty of objects to observe... than there is always the option to travel to a dark location.
