StarWatchers Enhanced Handset

Hi People,

I'm having problems with guiding, caused I think by corrosion on my ST4 port on my Starwatcher(-like) Enhanced Dual Drive Handset.  The RA- correction is not working but all the others work correctly.  Various pinout diagrams seem to be divided on whether pin 1 (counting from the left) or pin 3 are responsible for RA-, none-the-less both seem to have a green layer on them, which looks like corrosion.

How should I clean off the layer and how should I prevent it from recurring again?

Update:

So after a quick Google, they recommend vinegar, followed by baking soda, followed by some spray OR wire wool on a small drill bit.

I'm still undecided.  I don't want vinegar to spill into the handset.  It'll probably cause more problems than it solves.  On the other hand the drill bit seems a bit violent.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards

Steve

The best thing for cleaning up corrosion on contacts is one of these https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/abrasive-fibreglass-pencil-kr61r and perhaps this for the final clean https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/servisol-super-10-switch-contact-cleaner-200ml-jp17t .

Ok, thanks.  I've ordered one off eBay for 2.79.
