October 2017 star party in Brecon?

Hello,

Are there any plans for another star party this autumn in Brecon? I attended the one last year and it was a great location.

Hi Dave, there is nothing planned for October as such. 

October/November was the regular time of year that The South Wales Astronomy Group (SWAG) held their star party.

Because SGL moved their regular star party from the Spring to the Autumn it created a clash, so SWAG moved to the Spring slot. It was held in March this year for the first time. 

There is talk that a few members of SWAG may try out another very dark sky venue after the official weekend of SGL SP in October. Nothing will be organised for this, anyone who goes will make their own arrangements regarding booking a pitch.  It won't be announced on SGL, details will be by PM.  It is not an alternative to the normal SWAG star party held at Pencelli in the spring either. There are no plans to change anything regarding that. HTH

As Tony mentioned. there many star parties in the Autumn running from September to November, SGL, Kelling Heath (Sept and Nov), Galloway, AstroCamp to name but a few. There are not so many organised for the spring, which is why the SWAG star party was moved to March last year.

Actually there are a lot of star parties in the Spring as well including Isle of Wight, Kelling Spring, Kielder, Galloway etc.
