Apologies for rekindling an old thread @paulastro...but did you ever try any of these options on your old FC100DL?

my neck is really taking a strain with the tak finder :)

Many apologies for not responding earlier, I've only just noticed your post.  In the end I didn't try any of them out I'm afraid before I had to sell. the Tak.

I've got a telrad mount base strapped to my st120 with cable ties, but I'm not sure they would be strong enough to hold a 50mm finder in place, but maybe you could attach a shoe to a longish metal plate and strap the plate down with lots of cable ties, but that would be quite a lot of effort (and weight).

Could you attach a rail to your tube rings and then attach a shoe to the rail?

Is there any option to screw a finder base into your focuser like there is on a sky watcher dual speed focuser? I have a 50mm finder in a shoe on my dual speed focuser but I had to drill a hole in a shoe in just the right place to fit it.

Sorted....inspired by what @John had put together for his adaptation. Used the finder holder shoe that came with my Altair 10x60 RACI. This had 4 cut out slots wide enough to fit the tak threaded screws. I also used 2 serrated nuts to act as feet to allow the finder holder to sit nicely on the lip of the OTA barrel

Hopefully no more neck strains :) Thank you for the advice - much appreciated :)
