New Baader Mark 4 Zoom :-)

Having had a chance to try this out briefly this morning I thought I would share some first impressions.

Not a great difference in size from the old one as it still fills the space in my case.

The barrels feel light but strong when removing the 2 inch barrel.

Mechanism is smooth and the clickstops are noticeable but less so than the MK3.

Optically no difference from the MK3. Nice and sharp, picking up lots of tree bark detail. My daylight eyepiece test target! Compares well to the TV plossls.

Does have a rattle but this does not seem to affect the operation of the zoom.

Needs quite a bit of refocussing between 24 and 8 in the FS-60CB but the focus point on the scope is narrow.

Very pleased with it.

I wonder how these compare with SW Hyperflex zooms? (I'm looking for a zoom EP for my Mak for outreach-type situations and have been reading up on the Baader zooms......) Are the Baaders the best of the bunch?

The Baader is very well liked but I have not used a Hyperflex. Hopefully someone will be along who has used them both.
