Guidecam recommendation advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am after some advice on a new guide cam upgrade from my IS DMK""618.

I guide using an Altair Astro 60mm finder guider, it has a FL of 225 & is F3.75.

Lodestars, QHY 5L-II, ZWO's all keep being mentioned but which to go for ?

Could anyone share a guide shot of the sort of fov I could expect from a new camera against a DMK 618 fov ?

The DMK specs are  :- 640 x 480  Res     4.4mm x 3.8mm Sensor     5.6um Pixel size      Mono

Advice or links would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ewan

PS it's a shame that I cannot use my PG G3 IMX174 as that has a big chip :-(

The DMK that you have would be more than good enough, why do you want to upgrade...? :)

The DMK and ASI 120 are both 1/3" sensors...

The FOV using the DMK fov is very limited sometimes, on occasions there have been NO suitable stars shown in the field so I am looking for something that gives a larger fov.
