Which Newt (or indeed other scope)?

I currently have an SDW 150P (short tube version - the 750mm FL one) however I think for now I will use that primarily for imaging and am looking at something with a bit more poke for visual.

I like Newts - simple and effective so am thinking of just more of the same - the 200mm, 250mm or even 300mm SW PDS range however whilst I appreciate bigger is better in terms of light gathering there is also the practical side to consider.  Is the 300mm worth the pain of handling the thing or is the 200mm plenty enough for our poor skies or indeed does the 250mm strike a happy medium.

Whilst I like newst I am happy to consider alternative if there are any other scopes I should consider for general visual obs - mainly DSO's but it will get pointed toward the planets and moons every once in a while?

Well you have a AZEQ6=GT so a SW 250p-ds will work with your mount. (ps I have one and very nice down side trying to move it around so you see in the EP is a pain )  i am over 60 and that do not help much.

I used to have a 250, which I had on an EQ6. The weight is OK, but for me it was the bulk - just too big to pick up! Especially with my slipped disk. Finally settled on a C9.25 as it's compact, has a carry handle on the bottom, and is still quite light (one handed carry).

Yes the size of the bigger newts is something to consider. 

I've seen a nice secondhand Meade LX200 10". An older EMC version as opposed to the ACF version. Worth considering?
