Beautiful moon halo

Stunning moon halo here tonight. A beautiful hazy ring around the moon through thin cloud . Lovely

Fantastic. It's nice to see stuff like that. We had a good one a night or two ago that was bright enough to show colours just as the cloud started sweeping through. Didn't last long as the cloud thickened. Quite different from the (also stunning) icy halos I've sometimes seen before.

The clouds changed to a mottled mackerel backlit by the moon but alas no halo. So I came in  to some  Bach and malt whisky....

I love a good halo, got a nice photo of it a few nights ago. Was coming home at about half past eight this evening and spotted another good one. Glad it's not just me.

I captured exactly this last night on my phone! It shows up better on my phone screen than on the laptop but here it is. I noted that it was a radius that reached about halfway to Capella.
