Can you use an AZ6-EQ GT for manual tracking ???

Would I be correct in saying if you wanted to an AZ6EQ could be used in a similar way as a GIRO mount if the clutches are released, or does it lack the smoothness in the axis to be practical at higher magnifications??

i would say very impractical - loosened there is zero resistance - you'd have to partially tighten but even then id say its an expensive/costly way to quickly wear out an expensive bit of kit

If the scope was well balanced though do you think it might work ? I agree not the most practical method available but trying to get a feel for the versatility or the AZ6.

even well balanced, I still wouldn't bother trying...  It's not designed for it.

Errrrrr .... it depends what you mean. OK you can't manually fine adjust the mount with the clutches untightened.   But you can use the handset to scan the mount at a range of speeds form slow to fast.

not a chance in my view - the clamps are not practically placed with mounted scope - it would quickly become frustrating!
