You will need a full frame ccd like an Atik 11000

That's right. It's a full frame sensor. I use a couple of Atik 11000s and an SXVH36 which has slightly smaller pixels. But, either way, the pixels will be a lot larger than those of the Nikon. This can be good or bad depending on your scope. You can, in fact, get an even bigger chip with the Kodak 9 micron pixels. It is 36x36 but make sure you are sitting down when you look at the filter prices. Moravian are the affordable source of this chip.

Have you made any images with your ED80 and Nikon?

I ask because covering a 35mm format sensor without vignetting or distortion is a pretty big ask, especially at the budget end of the market. As Olly will tell you, even the Baby Q is stretched on that size.

Yes, a much better match and a very attractive route to bankruptcy:grin:.

The only reason I didn't mention it before was th OP asking about a 35mm format sensor.

Filter wheel and set of filters will probably cost more than the camera
