Hello, anyone about?

Is anyone still around these parts. It's getting darker now and so we should be looking to get out and observe, maybe not too far away (dob mod like...). Suggestions of locations please.

hi yes - just been busy with work lately, would be good to head out sometime - either ranmore else Bignor way thats a bit further out but darker  Jamie

I have met up with a local Astro grouping who are thinking of getting a bit more organised, so I was looking to collect  sites and maybe some other interested people as it's more fun in a group.

Anyone get an SQM reading at Bignor it appears to be in one of the South Downs Dark sky park areas of mag21, which would be very good.

unfortunately not - when visited with Steve recall saw a noticeable difference in Bodes nebula and sky was appreciably 'blacker' compared to RC + near where I live

Last time I actually met up with Steve, he managed to visually see the horses head nebula up there, so it is very dark up there.

Lower down on the horizon it was quite misty reflecting light pollution in the distance.

Sounds good, just need to look for times and dates. I managed the horsey easily from the Isle of Wight, but I was using a bigger scope than usual.
