Thumbs up for Olly's "No Darks" method

Recommended Posts

Following advice I received here earlier (see Oh what a to-dither) I managed to successfully take some images of the Veil Nebula with dithering between each image.  Sadly I only managed 4 images before the camera disconnected.  I think it was a USB cable issue and I have a new relatively expensive one on order.  Anyway, following Olly's advice I stacked the 4 x 300 second images with bias frames as darks and flats in DSS.  I then stretched the FITS image in StarTools (still a black art to me) and finally tweaked the image in Lightroom. This is the result:

I know it's not brilliant, but I'm still very pleased with the result from just 4 lights.  Olly's "no darks" method is surely the way to go.   Well it will be mine from now on.
