Neq6 mount control

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am going to try and control my neq6 pro mount with my laptop on stellarium or a similar program. I have read that you can connect the cable that comes with it into the synscan handset and into an rs232 port on the laptop. I don't have one of these ports so was going to buy one of these

is that the best way to do it? I know you can do away with the handset and get the eqmod cable? Is that a better idea, thanks for any help

It won't be for guided imaging yet but it definitely will be in the future. I'm wanting to get into proper AP eventually as I've been making do for years. I would like to use it remotely from my laptop indoors. I'm also looking at this to power the mount? It is centre positive so I'm assuming that means tip positive.

Yes your mount is supported (NEQ 6 Synscan Pro). The only EQ6 mount that the eqdir cable is not suitable for is the original black version with basic tracking motors.

Thanks very much, I'll get that now then. Just the power supply to sort out now

I'm not a fan of multi-voltage/multi-plug adaptors. get the plug in the wrong way round and you could blow the mount.

I personally think these are both quite expensive. Don't you think you want to be using  battery instead of the mains?

Here was my topic when I was thinking about Power:

I use this for my mains : https://www.amazon.co.uk/5000mA-Fully-Regulated-Supply-Connection/dp/B007BN4X20?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0&tag=stargloung-21

This for my battery:http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/jump-leads/phaze-4-in-1-jump-starter

As for the serial I use this:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plugable-Adapter-Prolific-PL2303HX-Chipset/dp/B00425S1H8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1473509364&sr=8-3&keywords=serial+driver
