Uranus!!! And I'm very surprised that I even saw it with my tiny 7x20 binos . But with a magnitude of 5.96, I thought I'd give it a go, even with the Moon shining in all it's glory not too far away...

After star hopping for a wee while I came across where I remembered it to be on Stellarium, went back to have a look at Stellarium and I was right! Could only make it out as a very faint star-like object but it was definately there!

After seeing this, I'm left with Mercury, Venus and Neptune. Hopefully I can get them eventually

Congratulations, that's great! Your 7x20's exit pupil is only 2.85mm. I've seen Uranus and Neptune with 7x35's (5mm) but you've got me wondering if my fold-up 10x25's (2.5mm) will be able to pull them in.. it'll be fun to try.

What's it like in a typical 6-8 inch scope - does it show an obvious disc even with low powers ?

The colour gives it away at low power and then you can just up the mag to confirm the disk.
