AZ-EQ6GT Tripod Setup

Does it matter in which hole in the Skywatcher tripod top plate the Azimuth alignment dowel is fitted, can I simply move it to the opposite hole?  Or does the tripod have to have one leg pointing due South.

When doing polar alignment I find it hard to look through the polar scope because the tripod leg gets in the way.  If I switched the pin  to the opposite hole then I would have one leg pointing due North and the polar scope would be in the gap between the the two legs making it easier to look through the polar scope.

Hope this makes sense.

Dave,

One other thing worth noting (that isn't in the instructions!) is that in AZ mode you need to have the control panel side of the mount facing south when "Parked" (scope horizontal pointing north) otherwise the tracking won't work.
