Chelyabinsk meteorite

Hi Guys,

Obviously the Chelyabinsk meteorite needs no introduction to Stargazers Lounge. However, you probably haven't heard of Alena Zabolotina who is a Chelyabinsk based photographer who back in September 2013 produced a set of close up images of the famed meteorite.

Those are some extreme macros! Kind of made me dizzy a little just looking at them!

I always love watching that footage because i have a small sample of the meteorite on my desk. Ive looked at it under a microscope. Looks like the pics in the link.

Its really quite small compared to other meteorites they sell but thats because not a lot of it was found and there has to be enough to go round. It is a special meteorite because we all remember the day it happened.
