Skywatcher Dual speed low profile

Recommended Posts

Now this is nothing FLO side ( cause there a brilliant bunch of people! ) but ive just bought a https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-focusers/skywatcher-dual-speed-low-profile-1252-inch-crayford-focuser.html to upgrade my Focuser on the standard 200p, fitted it etc and for some reason can not reach focus atall with a eyepiece, let alone my offaxis guider / dslr.

Just to wonder, has anyone else had this problem? If not il have  to email FLO in regards to this on Monday.

Gareth,

The problem is the height of this focuser is much lower than the one you have replaced so you will need to use an extension tube to reach the focal point. FLO should be able to advise you which length of extension tube you need.

Looking at the listing:

" ncorporates drawtube extension so also suitable for visual use, even when using long focal length 2" eyepieces!  "

Looks like the small knob at near right releases an extension tube you can pull up., while the one at far left secures the 1.25" insert.

It seems to have a built in extension tube, have you pulled it all the way up?

So you still have the old focuser? If so wind it all the way out with its extension tube fitted and compare the total length to the length of the new one. If the new one is shorter that will be the problem.
