It is a wonderful moment when they go off.
My Council has been turning them off at midnight for a couple of years, but sadly the A road a few miles stays illuminated.

I hope you get a great sky at midnight in October on the first turn off.

I see that their Lib Dems think people will feel unsafe - how many old folk go out after midnight, except for us astronomers?  So keep pushing the ecological and health benefits and, of course, the fact that switching off doesn't increase crimes.
