As previously, I only get confused in my home :) unlike NASA I was used to MKS / SI in the work place and all (well two of ) my spacecraft survived their gravity assist round Jupiter I blame your shrinkage, of your order, on thermal contraction :)

Replacement for my bit of steel arrived, looking at what they've written on it I'm lucky I didn't end up with 4 inches this time 

I once spent a couple of hours searching in a warehouse for a 3 metre long bit of kitchen unit cornice that I'd waited for a fortnight to come from Germany, should have been easy to spot, when eventually found it was 300mm long, lol
