My first ISS sighting with binoculars

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the ISS spotter app yesterday and it said it would be visible tonight at 2022 local time. I grabbed my binoculars and went outside to wait.  Right on cue it flew over.  My wife and I were able to to see a little detail but not much.  Next pass I'm going to try and see if I can get it with my telescope.

What a cool experience to see knowing folks are up there living on that thing.

I caught it going by in the eyepiece in my 12" LX90 one night - completely by accident! It knocked my about out-of-my-shoe's! It looked like a freight-train it was so big.

Reading your report, I may just try for it with my 15 X 70's binoculars. A more likely-to-succeed endeavour than with a telescope - though my ST80 might be a worthwhile pursuit.

Thanks for the idea!

Dave

I knew I'd be able to spot it with the binoculars.  I seriously doubt I'd ever find it through the telescope haha.
