Managed a bit of a look at the sun today through the haze. It's pretty quiet really, but there are still things of interest to look at. There is a lovely, quite extensive area of faculae over in the East. On the Western limb the large AR is probably on its last day of visibility, I can see faculae and two very thin lines of the umbra as it is presented to us at a very oblique angle. Nice, and gives a strong 3D feeling when you consider the views a number of days ago.

agreed Stu, very bare, and what is there is small but after the two monsters we have had in the last month or so it makes sol look all the more empty, hope the faculae  hails some more spots on the way. charl

I didn't bring the solar scope to work today, given a dreary forecast. The sun has of course since come out. When I get home, I do not doubt clouds will be there to welcome me

Nice report Stu. Much the same here. Lovely sunny day but seeing is not great. Managed to miss the faculae in the East. Will have to have another look.

The Sun has been splitting the sky here since last Friday with temps in the low to mid 20's. Sky has been without a single cloud and is the bluest ive seen since that volcano erupted and all air traffic was cancelled. I live quite close to Dublin airport and planes fly over about every 2 mins. They dont seem to be leaving contrails behind which as we know form haze.

Just a shame there is not much going on in WL up there.
