GRS on show, plus Io transit of Jupiter tonight

Hi all, just a heads up for the GRS and Io transit on Jupiter tonight. GRS on show now till Io starts to transit at around 22:58 GMT, then Io's shadow on view from 00:07 GMT in the morning. Just a little warm up for the Mercury transit tomorrow!

GRS earlier on was quite easy to see, but the transit and the shadow were a wash out as seeing by then was so unsteady. Obviously the heat of the day didn't bode well for steady skies later on.

By pure luck I was setup for twilight and the only thing worth trying for was Jupiter.  I caught that GRS around 9pm after it passed meridian but it's sure dark this year!  No mistaking it really and looked wonderful in the 6" frac before clouds interfered.
