Actually a curiosity on the old weather lore/rhyme; my grandfather was a (at least) 3rd generation shepherd, but in the family the red sky at.. rhyme always related to the observations of a sailor, not a shepherd - no idea why!

I guess if red sky in the morning indicates bad weather ahead - it would affect sailors at sea as much as shepherds and their flocks in the field.....
