Grand Canyon Astronomy

I am planning to go to the Grand Canyon + surrounding region next Spring and was wondering of anybody could recommend any astronomy opportunities nearby: observatories, viewing facilities etc?  I have recently acquired a Vixen Polarie, so hope to take that for a few of my own shots in what should be some great dark skies.

There is a member on here Jim, who posts reports from his outreach sessions from the Grand Canyon.  I'm sure if you dropped him a PM he would give some valuable information on the region.  Sounds like an amazing trip to make.

If you are anywhere near Flagstaff it may be worth some investigation. The whole town I believe has faithfully embraced a dark sky attitude making visual observation from the city quite feasible. I imagine this has sparked various Astro connected enterprises locally.
