Comet Jacques and Soul Neb

I meant heart Neb! From last year. Noisy and lacking in detail. I should have done a separate long exposure of the nebula, sigh. I had to do a lot of PS jiggery-pokery with the comet stack and star stack pics. Thank heavens for layer masks and colour overlay! Not my best, but at least I got it. Maybe I could take another pic of the neb and add it? Taken with my modded DSLR and 200mm lens, I think! Or was it the frac?? Can't remember!

That's a really nice shot.

The field of view looks very small for a 200mm lens. (For comparison see my 200 mm shot below)

Nice one, Michael. I couldn't get my kit to work when the comet was between the two nebs. Grrrr! How did you get the comet and stars round??

How did you get the comet and stars round??

I stopped the lens down to f4 and shot 60 sec exposures on a tracking mount.

I tried every combination and actually liked the 'stack on stars only' option best.  The exposure was short enough and the focal length short enough that it doesn't show any obvious smearing in the comet.

Ah, I see. I did quite a few shots and that meant quite a lot of comet movement over time.
