Hello,

I was looking in a store called Home Bargains today and came across a water proof tablet case for £1.20. I thought why not try it out.

It comes with two parts. The bag the tablet sits in and the carry handle with strap on, which also the bag folds round. That is a 7" tablet in there sideways. The dimensions overall are approximately 30 x 22 cm.

Really easy to use, remove the clear bag and undo the zip lock. Pop your tablet in and reseal the bag. Then take the bag and fold it round the back until it is where you want it. On the left hand side of the handle you can feed the bag through and it stays in place, giving it another layer of sealing and also removing the excess plastic out of the way.

The strap is pretty easy to adjust with a toggle. It allows you to hang it down to about your waist and is easy to adjust to be able to hold it and look at objects in say Stellarium. You could even hang it off a scope or just use it flat on a stool or table.

The plastic doesn't impede the use of the tablet, the touchscreen still works fine. It adds glare and is hard to see through in a brightly lit area but in the dark using red mode on Stellarium it is fine.

Over all it may be a cheap product but is a nifty solution for keeping a tablet safe when out observing. The seams all appear to be tightly sealed and waterproof. Don't envisage it breaking and the tablet crashing out. I know some may have elegant solutions but for £1.20 it is well worth a try if you have a tablet you use for star gazing.

........some time back after an evening away, and things started to freeze up, I decided that I would wrap each eyepiece in its own Asda Food & freezer bag,  those with the self sealing plastic  zipper devices. They were somewhere  under £2 for about 25 bags?

A little air  left in the bags also cushioned the EPs  whilst in their biscuit tub.  I now have a different case, and don't use the bags with the EPs but  I  always have a bag of these food bags, and some.

The advantage with your case is the handle.
