iPhone M42 28th September 2015

The skies were gorgeous tonight during the eclipse. Darker than usual, at mag 19.4. My normal is 18.5, with 19 on a good night.

I thought I would give M42 a go with the phone, have never captured any nebulosity before. This was using ProCam 3 set to 1 second exposure, tweaked in PS Express. Upping the vibrancy has brought out a little colour too.

This was handheld at the eyepiece on a manual, non tracking mount!

This is great, have you got an adapter for your iPhone, or did you just hold it on the EP?

This one was just hand held, although I do have an adaptor which I sometimes use.

If you wen't back in time 20 years and told people that in the future folk will be taking pictures of distant nebulae with a phone, I doubt they would believe it
