A wider field view of the Omega Nebula in Sagittarius showing some of the surrounding outer patches of fainter nebulosity. Single sub taken with a GSO 6" Newtonian scope but unguided.

M17 Sagittarius- 360s sub, GSO 6" Newtonian @ F2.9, Fuji IS Pro DSLR @ ISO800, dark sky site in Mid Wales.

Very nice! I'm comparing this with what I recall seeing from Tenerife earlier this month. The brightest piece was really apparent giving the impression of the Swan shape. I would have loved seeing the mottled nebula and dark lanes your picture so nicely picks up.

How did you take such a long exposure with so little star trailing? Tim.

The telescope was mounted on an EQ6 tracking mount. With good polar alignment and short focal lengths I can get away with up to 8 mins before the trails become unacceptable.
