M92 - My first session

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Still extremely new to imaging, and last night was the first time I have really had a change to have a go. Simply stacked 40 (ISO 800) light frames. No darks, flats or bias. Then used Deepskystacker to stack. No post processing, as I have yet to learn that. Just after some comments at this point, so that I can improve on my next session. I feel focus is an issue in this image, - I do have Camera with Liveview, and was using that to focus on a bright star. I do have a bhatinov mask, but not used it yet. All comment appreciated. [Picture is a cropped jpg].

Thanks

Focus looks a bit out as you say. I often use just Live view - on the laptop - but you need the magnified option, and the star needs to be not too bright or too dim. And the laptop screen brightness may affect your judgement also. Using Liveview on the camera screen will be tricky.

Bahtinov probably better, but primarily much quicker. You image also looks a bit pixelated - make sure you shoot in RAW, process in TIFF, and submit here in PNG seems to give best result.

Nice start!
