Use of Meade 5000 80mm ED APO with Herschel Wedge

Hi all

I have been offered one of these as my visual travel scope and one of the main uses will be as a solar scope with Herschel (Lunt) Wedge.

I think this is a triplet design which I suppose is a good thing for visual planetary etc (sort of) but my main concern is the above. Anyone used this sort of scope with a HW?

I use a Herschel wedge with my APM 80mm F/6 triplet without issues

They must be similar. The current owner has also now confirmed they have used it with a baader wedge so seems good.

As long as the scope doesn't have glass at the rear of the OTA (Petzval and similar designs) you are OK

Yep, I used my 106 triplet with no issues. I did see one problem here on SGL which involved a new triplet but that had a cemented objective I believe. Air spaced triplets are fine.
